Mit der Inschrift „Unserer Jugend“ über dem mit neugotischen Flamboyant-Maßwerk verzierten Eingangsportal entstand mit der gründerzeitlichen ‚Neuen Schule‘ an exponierter Lage im Jahr 1907 das bis dahin größte profane Gebäude Lauffens.  Jahrhundertelang waren die Schulen im Umfeld der Regiswindiskirche angesiedelt, bevor 1825 das Schulhaus am „Schulberg“ (heute Hochhaus) als Volksschule errichtet wurde. Der massive Bevölkerungszuwachs sowie die zunehmende Bedeutung der schulischen Bildung machten den Neubau im späten Jugendstil Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts an der Katharinenstraße erforderlich.

Le plus grand bâtiment profane jusque-là de Lauffen fut construit en 1907 à un emplacement exposé pour abriter la « Nouvelle école » de l’époque wilhelminienne. Il porte l’inscription « Pour notre jeunesse » au-dessus de son portail d’entrée décoré d’entrelacs flamboyants néo-gothiques. Pendant des siècles, les écoles étaient situées à proximité de l’église Regiswindiskirche, avant qu’en 1825, l’école sur le mont « Schulberg » (aujourd’hui immeuble) ne soit construite en tant qu’école primaire comprenant également les premières années du collège (« Volksschule »). La croissance démographique exponentielle ainsi que l’importance croissante de l’éducation scolaire ont rendu nécessaire la construction du nouveau bâtiment de style Art nouveau tardif du début du 20^e s. dans la rue Katharinenstraße.

With the inscription “For Our Youth” over the neo-Gothic flamboyant tracery decorated entrance in Wilhelminian style, the “new school” was built in a prominent location in 1907 and was the largest profane building in Lauffen heretofore. For centuries the schools had been situated around the Regiswindis Church, before the “school house” (today apartment block) was constructed as a primary school on the “school hill” in 1825. The considerable population growth and the increasing relevance of school education made the construction of a new building, in late Art Nouveau style in Katharinenstraße, necessary at the start of the 20^th century.
