Die Kirche wurde ursprünglich als romanische Chorturmkirche St. Nikolaus direkt mit oder kurz nach der Stadtgründung im 13. Jh. erbaut. Ab 1795 diente sie dem Militär als Magazin. In der Pfarrbeschreibung von 1828 wurde sie irrtümlich mit der karolingischen Pfarrkirche St. Martin gleichgesetzt. Seitdem trägt sie den Namen „Martinskirche“. Sie wurde 1883 saniert und im Folgejahr geweiht. Bemerkenswert sind Fragmente von sechs Bildzyklen, darunter romanische Weihekreuze und ein Nikolauszyklus aus der Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts, die bei der Restaurierung 1977-78 gesichert wurden.

L'église fut construite à l'origine comme église romane de la tour du chœur St. Nicolas directement ou peu après la fondation de la ville au 13^e s. À partir de 1795, elle servit d’entrepôt militaire. Dans la description de la paroisse de 1828, elle fut faussement assimilée à l'église paroissiale carolingienne de Saint-Martin. Depuis, elle porte le nom d’ « église Saint Martin ». Elle fut rénovée en 1883 et consacrée l'année suivante. Les fragments de six cycles d’œuvres picturales, parmi lesquelles des croix de consécration romanes et un cycle sur Saint Nicolas du milieu du 15^e siècle qui ont été préservés lors de la restauration en 1977-1978, sont remarquables.

This church was originally built as the Romanesque St. Nikolaus steeple church during or shortly after the founding of the town in the 13th century.  From 1795 it served as a warehouse for the military. In the parish description of 1828 it was mistakenly identified as the Carolingian St. Martin’s parish church. Since then it has been called St. Martin’s church. It was refurbished in 1883 and consecrated the following year. Noteworthy are the fragments of six picture series, including Romanesque consecration crosses and a Nikolaus illustration from the middle of the 15th century, which was preserved during the restauration in 1977-78.
